Yea :( Things happen for a reason though so.. maybe it was going to totally suck.. and people would make fun of me.. then I'd throw myself in front of a train.. so, there is always a bright side. |

So I've decided I am bored of doing portraits. I want to do collages, with a theme, and bunch of different images that all have something in common. I think I want to do a series of posters for my portfolio that are all like, one-word portraits. Like "Tranquility" or "Passion" and the collage would reflect that, and it would be entirely in vector.
Well, I did this vector of a dove. It will be in a collage, I just dont know how yet :)

I figured out the scenario I want to do :) And it involves.. a waterfall!

It's coming along pretty nicely. My first time working with water, so it's been a bit of a pain to figure out, but Im getting better. |

Thanks guys! It is actually such a simple technique I might do a tutorial. I basically made a base layer that was a gradient, then I made a set of water shaped droplets that were elongated, and made them a very light blue, and then I just kept layering them over and over again all over the place with the opacity set to like, 20ish. It looks really good when I used three different sets of different shaped water droplets.
I never use base layers and I never write tutorials. Shocking! |

Raelynn.. youve made me think of you so higly now.. seriously *bows down*. You are amazing at vexellng from scratch its not even funny.. and with your skills its no wonder you can make it very sucesfull with vexelling for business. So many people would want that here on vexels, but your ethe only one i believe that is that gifted to be able to make such great vexels out of scratch. Many people should look up to you for this, because isn't everybody sort of leaning to wanting to be able to vexel from nothing like drawing with crayons? You're a great example we should all look up to. |

Oh my gosh that is soooo sweet of you to say that! To be honest I was very very nervous with this vexel because people tend to gravitate more toward people vexels. I dont vexel to get comments or to get favorites, but they're always so nice and encouraging, and I knew by doing this vexel, I would be sacrificing some of that. But this comment picked me right back up, thank you so so so much! :D:D
Linda - I went ahead and finished this one up for now, because it's very busy and I felt that if I added anything else to it, it would just be too much. I think Im going to work on another waterscape and do a person in it, and have the dove flying into their hands. Im not entirely sure yet though, but the person would be small and not very detailed, so the main focus would be the environment.
Thanks muchly for the support everyone! :D

This isn't exactly vexel, but it's still done in the style.. somewhat, but it's for school, but Im just going to post it in here, not in the gallery :)
I have to design an invite to my studio show for one of my classes.
The invites are going in this envelope: http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/34325014.html?cm_id=2530.040.100. Same color and everything.
And Im printing them on green paper and vellum. So when you open the envelope, you slide out this long invite. The top layer will be vellum with this printed on it:

The vellum will be a cream/clear, so I need to change the colors a bit, but then on the second layer, it will be that green color, and since the vellum is layered, I wanted to see what it would look like next to the green since that color will come through.
Then I will bind the two layers together with a brad, so you kind of 'turn' the first layer to see the second. Haha, does that make ANY sense? It's so hard to explain.
So you have the first layer and it says "you're invited" then you turn it and all the info (who, what, where, etc) is on the bottom layer. |
