Hey I've been wanting to pierce my nose (right nostril) for probably 2-3 years now and I'm finally thinkin about doing it myself after I convince my mom that it can be beautiful lol (my dad doesn't care). I tried it today just to see what the extent of the pain was and I did it very very slowly and didn't go all the way through but it barely hurt; I thought piercin my ear for the second time hurt much worse. now its a little itsy bitsy tiny bit sore but not enough for me to even really think about it. Does anyone have any tips for how to do it when I do it? Thanks! |

Not to scare you but dont everything you use have to be sterilised? Dont be goin and sticking rusty bits of metal in yaself! I would never recomend piercng a part of your body yourself! |

Yes, DO NOT DO IT YOURSELF. I had a friend who got a pin, sterilized it and did it herself, and today her nose looks SO weird. She had to take it out because it wasn't healing (turns out she did it in the wrong spot, you have to get it in JUST the right place) and now she has this weird bump on her nostral that's always swollen. It's cheap, easy, and relatively painless to get it done by a pro, so why risk having it done wrong? |

Do it yourself and I'll piss myself laughing when you get an infection. It sounds harsh, because, well, it is. For one, if you mess it up..it'll look bad. It'll get infected. Infected nose piercings are PAINFUL.
Take it from someone's who had their nose done three times - get it done with a NEEDLE by a proper piercer. |

I did all my ear-piercings by myself as well but I never get infections. Still, even I went to the piercer.
Don't do it by yourself. |

DONT do it yourself. Get it professionally, and by professionally I DON'T mean with a gun, I mean with a needle.
The skin on your nose is tough, and it hurt me enough with a piercer doing it, let alone even considering doing it myself. |

Spazzy: Once with a gun - which messed up (the stud was WAY to big for a nose piercing), twice with needles. Needles are so much cooler, except when you go crosseyed and see this needle.
Emsickle: I'm glad you're letting a piercer do it. No matter how sterile you are, you still can't autoclave.
Just tell your mum that it's only a little piercing, where the stud can be changed easily to something tinnnnnnnnnny, and that it's easy to care for and stuff |

I used to think nose piercings were ugly, but I totally changed my mind on that. Love them now. I'd love to get one of those little duds (or however they're called), but my dad says that when your older the hole gets bigger. Don't know if it's true, but he wasn't saying it to scare me out of it, cause he thinks they're pretty too..
And even if you take it out, you'll always see the little thingie where the whole used to be. Which is okay, but it's still right in your face..
I really don't know if I should take one. I love them, but it's just so scarry getting a piercing right in your face.
I mean, my ears are pierced 8 times, but those are just my ears.. |

I don't mind those holes. (; It's reaaaally small. And I can - but don't exactly want to - use make up... So, I don't care.
@Emsickle
Just tell her that doing it by yourself is very dangerous and .... ja. That's pretty much it!! (; |

Well, I don't know how to put on make-up, so I can't cover it up. Seriously, I have no idea how to make it look nice, or OK at all.. :P
So what about the hole, does it get bigger when you get older and you've had it for a long long time?
Don't want to be a 80 year old who blows her nose from the side :P |

professionals are cool. if the professionals mess up (which they hardly do) then they might give you a free coupon or some candy :) |

I know this is old - but nope...it'd only get bigger if you wore REALLY heavy jewellery in it constantly or stretched it. I've had mine done for oh..three years (this time. it'd be 5 if it hadn't ripped out before:( ) and it's still a little tiny hole when the screw is out
