My Illustrator's having issues lately...
Whenever I go to save, it tells me that the file is read-only/in-use while it's not and tells me to "save as".
I had this problem before, but that time I disabled the thumbnails for the file, and it worked fine. But now it's getting that error again, and the file generates a thumbnail even though the file's properties says "don't generate thumbnail". =.=
If that made sense to anyone, throw any ideas you have at me. |

Maybe you have it open twice on accident? |

Copy this and put answers at the end of sentance....................
Give me info... Do you have a Windows machine or Mac?
How much memory?
Windows XP Home Edition or Professional?
Do you Have Windows Service Pak-2 installed?
Illustrator Version? 10 - 11 - or CS2?
Is your computer Networked to other computers?
Do you have more than 1 account on the machine (Administrator Account)?
Has the program crashed on you?
Has Windows crashed on you while in ILLustrator?
try making a copy of the file before you open it and rename it and work
off of the renamed one, see if that eliminates the problem
Windows XP Professional
if not, then you may have to mess around with the files properties,
checking to see if its read only, and removing all permissions except
yours
Shared folders on network machine
With the error message still open on the client, we opened Computer Management on the server and checked the open files. The problem file was listed as being open twice. Closing the error message on the client, making a change, waiting for more than 10 seconds and then saving allowed the file to save normally and the duplicate entry on the server disappeared.
