So, which layout should I use for my upcoming portfolio?
Layout one, Maggie Grace
Layout two, Natalia Vodianova

For my soon-to-come portfolio, I'm stuck on what I want for the layout.
Here's the two layouts..
Layout One- Maggie Grace
or
Layout Two- Natalia Vodianova

Under the site name. It'll have columns, just not...with full fledged backgrounds, if that make sense. Like this, kinda:

ahh, something like that... I think you maybe better off to make your image smaller maybe? You would have to scroll to get to the content which could be a bit annoying and then on a 800 x 600 screen res, they would have to scroll even more?

Thanks.
And the problem with making is smaller is that it doesn't look that good smaller...

You probably should come up with a solution for that though. I know if I visit a site and the header image takes up the whole screen I leave right away. It's annoying when you have to scroll down to see the content on every page.

I agree with everyone else, the image is WAY too big. No one wants to visit a site where the content is not visible at the same time as the main image. Not to mention, it's going to make your page load super slow and a lot of people don't stick around for very long. Big image + slow loading time = x for me (and many others). I do like the first one better, but I think you should figure a way out for it to be smaller.

Alright. I don't want everyone clicking out the second they get there. I'll work on making is smaller (and the file size less, if that's an issue as well).

Here is where I got the images. But the challenges are ending soon so you'll have to save them if you want to use them for later.

Thanks.
Do you guys think it'd look okay without the text? That;s the only way it'll look okay if I shrink the layout..

yes, and don't forget you can use CSS to make the title.. it's better, saves you bandwitdth and the user doesn't have to load another image for the title.
