okay when i was browsing around dA i saw some vectors that looked really nice and neato but they actually vectored it and then they took the shadings and highlights and blurred them so it would make it look really smooth. im just wondering since they did that is it still "considered a vector" ??

They may have used gradient mesh, which isn't blurring but using using gradients..giving it that smooth look

If it's still in vector format by the end, then yes it can still be considered a vector of course.

I thought I remember hearing somewhere that you can't blur vector.. vector programs just don't have a blur function. I'm not 100% sure on that though.

Gradient mesh is the only thing I can think of. I am definately not an Illustrator expert, but I've fooled around with every tool in there and I've never blurred anything.

If they took it into photoshop and blurred it then it wouldn't be a vector. That might not even qualify as a vexel. Probably more of an airbrush thingy.

I wouldn't even say airbrush but more like just digital art or a rastor...
