Between 13 and 18/19. Generally I think people attend highschool here from the ages of 14-18, but of course there are always people a little younger and older... started school late/transferred/failed whatever.

I believe High School is the same as class 3 in Holland, Jeroen. :)
That would put me in first year of high school.
Then again, it's pretty different because we have around 5 'levels' you can attend high school in and such.. It's a really complicated system here compared to America's. |

it's a test you take usually at the end of 11th grade or 12th grade and colleges look at the scores, which decide acceptance into college and also scholarships and stuff.

Anyways, the SAT's are basically a standardized test that pretty much replaces all the academic achievements you've managed to acquire so far in your life. It pretty much bases your entire future on a lousy test that more-or-less can veto or overlook your grade point average thusfar.
DAMN TEST. |

^^ I know isn't it the stupidest thing ever? A former validictorian at our school who got into some great college said something like "Hey I was just good a filling out bubbles". My cousin was like a really good student but not a great test taker and that made her not get into her school of choice when really she was just as smart as those who did really well... |

Oh, I see ^___^
I'm from Chile, a tiny-but-long country on South America.
We have a test like that too, called the "PSU" (that translates as "Test of College Aceptation".
It's kind of different though, because you take it when you finish school. And school grades are still about the 30%-40%-50% (I have no idea how much ^^;;), but they still count on your final "BIG" grade. So even if you did got a good grade on the PSU, if you have bad school grades you are kind of screwed.
And don't worry Echo. I'll have mercy this time ;) |

Actually most schools don't even look at the SAT anymore. A kid I graduated with was a straight A student bombed the SAT (well, he got like a 1000, which was average with the old scoring system, but with the schools he was looking at that was considered bombing) but he still got into West Point.

wow, impressive. ^`)
of course, none of it mattered to me, much, because here in texas, if you're in top 10%, you get automatically accepted to any texas public college of your choice. ^`)
by the way, i didn't do too well on the SATs myself. hah!!
