like the eyes in this one:
http://www.vexels.net/vexels/6906
I've tried the tip guide in the site.. but they don't show how exactly you vexel the eyes.. i hope you can share your methods of vexelling eyes or any tutorials on this... =D |

*Rolls eyes* it's called practice...There isn't any magic way to vexel eyes realistically, you just have to keep practing. There is no magic way (I don't think anybody believes me when I say this). |

I think sometimes people think there's a trick to it or some special filter you use. It's just spending hours and hours staring at the same picture trying to get the look you want.

I don't think Dawn meant it that way either. It's good to keep those facts clear, but you don't have to be rude either.
Maybe you could try Shaz eye tutorial ?? Is at the tutorial section.

It's really all practise, how much devotion you put in to it and time.
A tip: use gradients. :) And don't work at the eyes at the original size, resize it 400% bigger or someting. |

Gradients, yeah. And opacities. Or layer modes.
Allways works with realistic eyes.

That was really rude, seriously. She was asking for tips...and another way people improve is by getting advice from others.
I resize my eyes, but because I lack patience, they still suck.

Many many layers...the ^ tutorial really helped for me in getting the depth of the eyelids down. The Iris is the only thing I can do confidently =) |

Yea that was rude, but anyways.. you shouldnt take tips from me but I learned by zomming in to 800 or something and follow the posterize level gradually getting lighter or darker.

I don't even know : / The best eyes I've ever done were for the latest competition round and they just sort of happened. I picked the colors from the image itself (something I don't do that often) and focused on a few things about the irises in particular- the basic/most found color, the darker edge area of the irises, a highlight color and then shadows for where the light was being blocked from hitting the eye... also highlights/sparkle. I didn't put as much effort into them as I usually do and they came out way better. Go figure.
So, I guess yeah, practice. There's only so much you can learn from other people... really they could sit down and show you exactly how they do it and it probably wouldn't help much because you have to get a 'feel' for it. The best tip I can give for anything you're vexelling is to plot it. I watched Shaz vexel once on her deskcam and it didn't help me... I already knew the things she was showing it was just a matter of she has the patience and the experience and I don't. |

Dawn, i don't think there's a secret to this. everyone has to find their own method basically. Each person has a different way of doing them i guess. Some enjoy gradients, i"ve tried them once but did not get the realistic and captivating look i wanted. So i went back to making my eyes exactly how i make my skin, piece by piece with many different layers at low opacities. My method of vexeliing in gerenal is far different than the gradient method or technique found in any of shaz's tutorials, and slightly different from Drew's vexel that you used as an example.
so i guess don't be afraid to try different methods :D and if they don't work out the way you want, move onto a new method. It's ok to mess up... just keep fiddling with it, mix methods, maybe you may discover your very own technique that is ideal for you :D
EDIT: btw the eyes on your newest vexel (the competition entry) are quite beautiful :D I think you've found your own perfect method already =) |

dw bout her shes always rude if a "n00b" comes along and cant do anything
not everyone thinks there is special trick or filter, they just like to know "how" you did the shiny-ness or eyelash etc....

Ok, let's be nice people! I'm sure Carina just misunderstood the question.. She's not "always rude if a "n00b" comes along and cant do anything"..
