Can anybody give me any tips or advice on doing tattoos? I've never done them and I really want to attempt to vexel this image of Paul McCoy of 12 Stones.

Any advice you can give on doing tattoos would be great! :) |

i've never done it myself...that's a cool picture tho! |

Damn he's hot!
lol
Anyways, I'd guess you could do it like a regular vexel only in tattoo colors. And with a mix of line art and hair techniques. Maybe then lower the opacity? |

rachel.. oh my gosh, you have no idea how much i hate patterned clothing :-p i am always too lazy to do it, but in this case, there's not much to go around the tattoos with.
but would it be easier or harder doing regular shading on the arms and then doing the tattoos over that? |

i think it'd be easier to do the tattoos first with little shading besides the shading from the ink (like, don't shade around the curve of the arm while you're doing the tattoos.) then after i finished the tattoos - they'll look pretty lifeless cuz they'll be solid for the most part - i'd go in and shade the arms with layers set to multiply on top of the tattoos.
but that's just theorizing...i've never really tried this. |
