For eyelashes, one solid block of black or any other colour generally just does not look good. Try to make several larger lashes that start out thick and end with a tip, then fill in with smaller, finer lashes between the larger ones. It just makes it look more feathery, feminine and realistic. |

when making the iris and pupil, the best thing is to start with a circle from the circle tool... this way the iris doesn't wind up being lopsided.... then just cut away little bit by little bit till the cirlce fits in the eye socket area. |

Be careful with colors, although bright eye colors seem like a cool idea, they are also incredibly tacky and should be used with extreme caution. |

The eyebrows are very important in a vexel. If you are going to a realistic feeling, vexel each eyebrow hair. Realistic eyebrows are not big solid chunky shapes, and remember to add some shading and hair color variation to the eyebrows. |

For somewhat realistic eyes
- cut out the eye your working on
- resize it to 400%
- dupilcate original layer
- Clourize black and white
- Set posterization to 11
- vexel accordingly following the posterization
- once finished vexelling resize to 25%
your eye should look somewhat realistic. |

Vexel both eyes and eyebrows at the same time. Whatever you do to one eye, do it to the other... then you will have equally shaded and detailed eyed. |

Unless you can make it look good, don't just make eyeshadow/eye-make-up one chunk of black at 100% opacity. Instead, make different layers with various opacities. |

The biggest problem I see people have is they give the eyes no depth. Eyes do not sit flat on your face. That part of the face is normally deeper than the rest, the checkbones, forehead and nose are all pointing out more than the eye sockets. Take a look at some side on photos to see what I mean.
There should be a crease for the eyelid and a highlight below the eyebrow. |

Eyebrows are not one think chunk of color.
It bothers me when i see detailed lovely skin, but a honky thick eyebrow!
A way to do neat, and smoothing eyebrows is to vexel the eyebrow hairs as if you were vexeling whispies on the hairline. =) |

Lashes are one of the hardest things to make realistic when you're working on the eye, especially when it's a huge eye =O Eyelashes shouldn't come out from the eyeliner. Instead, you could draw in the eyeliner, then follow the curves of the line and stroke path the strands of the eyelashes. |

Don't make the eyelashes too close by.
Generally I use about 3 different layers. Every single one is black - the only thing that changes is the thickness and opacity.
The first one is the thickest. Opacity: 25%
Second layer is a little thinner / smaller / more detailed: Opacity: 25%
The third one is very detailed and might not even touch the eyelid. Opacity: 30% ( Sometimes I add more layers but... generally i do it this way.)
This will make the lashes and the whole eye look more realistic. |

Eyeballs are never purely white. Remember they are round, pretend they are a (eye)ball, if you were vexelling a ball you wouldn't leave it flat, also consider the shadows that eyelashes may cast. |

If you decide to flip 1 eye instead of doing 2 seperate ones, don't just flip and leave it. The pupil should be moved slightly and any highlights should be moved accordingly.
The white dot that is on a lot of eyeballs is a light source, it is generally one light source and is coming from 1 direction so it should be on the same side of the pupil on both eyes.
Also take into account any shading around the eye that might differ if there are strong shadows. |
