Unless the person's lips are very pouty, the top lip is generally a little darker than the bottom. This is because the bottom lip sticks out further therefore catching more light. |

Sure, lip gloss and shine is pretty... But beware. Too much unneeded lip shine looks gaudy. Depending on the mood, position, shading, theme, and person of the vexel will have varying amounts of how much lip shine is needed. So use cautiously! :) |

When doing teeth, I find that in most cases, the front two teeth are a lighter colour, also the top teeth are lighter than the bottom ones. They catch more light, I suppose. =) |

Always remember that the lip line (the line seperating the bottom and top lip) is darker (usually much darker) than the darkest shading on the lips. Many people tend to forget this. |

For teeth, use gradients! Draw each tooth with a light gradient which fades at the edges! Simple and quick :D |

If you use layer opacities, overlap dark shading from the bottom of the lip to the shadow the bottom lip gives. The same could be applied to the top lips highlight. |

Do Not use very bright colors. Stay away from magenta or (dare I say it) bright blue or neon pinks/yellows and greens.
Do add lots of shading where the lips meet. Use a very light shade of the lip colour at around 13-15% oppacity to obtain glossyness. |

Like eyes, teeth shouldn't ever be bright white, unless you're vexelling Oprah. Having said that, you don't want them yellow either. It's a fine line so just play around with the opacity of your layers. |

Don't forget that lips usually blend with the skin around the corners. |
