My first attempt at vexel art. I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome although I know my hair needs work. (It seems as though hair gives everyone troubles) Gwen Stefani proved to be a good first subject. Her face is clean and sharp and her makeup offers an easy contrast in colors.
you should get a link to a bigger picture so we can see how you divided your shapes more.
it looks like a lot of brushes to me? maybe i'm wrong.

I used brushes in the front part of her forhead. The back part of her hair (behind her headband) is all pen splines. It's hard to get the "right" look of the hair but again, this is my first attempt. Thanx for the comments
Wow, this is really great for a first vexel!! I think you did a great job, and of course there is definitely room for a lot of improvement but I'm incredibly impressed!!! :)

Thanks for the comments I appreciate it. Illustrator CS2 has a "Live Trace" feature that lets you literally push a button to create a vector image from a raster image and that's exactly what I didn't want to do. I'm most proud of the ear. It took me awhile to figure out how to get the right shading in the inner ear.
Thanx for the positive comments.
