"Smile Like You Mean It..."

it's time to kick it up another notch!! I'm really trying my best to get closer and closer to realism. I think like the style a lot more and hopefully i'll keep improving with time!

This vector is very personal for me b/c it's of a very close friend of mine, Drew (aka the2slayers on www.vexels.net, and i often refer to him affectionately as my lovely drewbie <3 <3). It feels different doing a vector of someone you know, and not some random celebrity or stock photo. It also made me very picky. Because while making it, i would stop myself and be like "wow, his eyebrows don't normally look like that... ahh! his lips aren't that color!.." etc etc. And i get caught up in technical aspects of the piece when normally i would have moved on.

I did a vector of drew before in illustrator, but never posted it. B/c since then, my style has changed dramatically. So i thought it would be best to do a new one, instead of posting the old drew vector.

Drew's hair was by far the hardest part b/c he normally gels it and it has SO many little curls. I couldn't get it right, and trust me, it looks wonderful in real life, but I didn't do him justice this time with the hair. =( I enjoyed doing the eyes and the teeth, and I think as I continue practicing with skin shading, I get closer and closer to a style I'm comfortable with.

But i def enjoyed doing this vector probably b/c drew was an awesome subject. I mean really... How cute is he?! He's got one of the best smiles out of all the people I know and I must say it was my favorite part of this picture. Much love to my drewbie <3 <3

Sorry, this may sound wierd and i feel odd postng it on your comment-page Its an amazing vexel :D So good in fact i was able to recognize the person ;-) Perhaps that is one of the best compliments I can give XD Reply from HAHA that's freakin AWESOME!!! yeah I did go to HSE (class of '05!! I was supposed to visit a bunch of teachers and haven't gotten around to it (The librarian mrs. drayer, russo, d'amato, madame sirulnick and many more. eek! i better get on that soon!). thanks for the comment!
