Copyrights are automatic. If you come up with a completely original, tangible something, it is automatically protected by copyright.
However, to be on the safe side, you can register your copyright, just incase someone comes along with the same name and tries to say they did it first. http://www.copyright.gov/register/
Read over some of that and that should give you a better idea :) |

also with this, just in case, make sure you keep the working file[ai,psd, psp file] and all, or most, of the layers. |

this may be a silly question, and may have been covered on another board, but because we use the likeness and some names of famous people in our art, we're not violating an copyright laws are we? |

I know that parodies are 100% legal using company logos and names, and that sort of thing. Im not really sure about likeness though. Althought, I noticed recently that commercials will start to use their direct competitors in their commercial. Like Diet Pepsi used Coca Cola in its commercial. Usually they would say "Brand X" or something like that. I think the laws have changed recently.
But I dont know for sure. |

It's the same here (with telephone companies), but I think it's legal to compair yourself to your competitors as long as what you say in the commerical is true and proved.
I don't know if we're violating the copyright rules.. but I think that as long as you're not trying to make profit out of it you're fine..
